The Department of Law of the University of Pisa will host a two-day international workshop on Gender and Populism in Europe and Beyond on October 12 and 13, in Pisa (Italy), within the framework of the European Women’s Law & Gender Jean Monnet Chair (EUWONDER), directed by prof. Elettra Stradella.
Scholars involved in the topic – especially, but not exclusively, young researchers from the Circle-U Alliance partners universities (https://www.circle-u.eu) – are invited to submit original proposals concerning Gender and Constitutional Transformation, as well as Constitutional Degradation and Gender backlash. The phenomenon of constitutional degradation appears to have a strong connection with gender degradation through discriminations: we must face this process, contributing to the debate on democratization and the challenges to the rule of law. Also, a focus on Populisms and (old and new) political ideologies is deemed crucial in detecting the crisis of the rule of law and fundamental rights’ retrogressions.
