EMILDAI – Titolo di studio congiunto con Dublino, León e Avignone

Il nuovo Curriculum Erasmus Mundus in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence (EMILDAI) è un programma internazionale interdisciplinare offerto dal Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza dell’Università di Pisa, insieme a Dublin City University, Avignon Université e Universidad de León.

Analogamente alle aziende e organizzazioni di tutti i settori che si sforzano di stare al passo con l’accelerazione digitale e la gestione dei dati associati al progresso tecnologico, abbiamo attivato un piano di studio europeo, finanziato dalla Commissione Ue, strutturato per creare laureati in grado di soddisfare le esigenze del mondo del lavoro.

Il Curriculum in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence (EMILDAI) è un percorso di laurea magistrale pensato allo scopo di colmare il divario per le imprese e le istituzioni che richiedono esperti per elaborare i dati in sicurezza conformemente alle regole giuridiche ed etiche, anche con riferimento all’utilizzo di sistemi di intelligenza artificiale.

Finanziato dall’Ue

Il Curriculum EMILDAI è un Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters dell’Unione europea, ovvero il più prestigioso e integrato programma di studio universitario di livello magistrale finanziato dall’Ue. Il progetto EMILDAI ha ricevuto una sovvenzione di oltre 5 milioni di euro dalla Commissione europea.

Il curriculum della Laurea Magistrale per il conseguimento del titolo congiunto è offerto dall’Università di Pisa in collaborazione con tre istituzioni europee leader nel settore della conoscenza: Dublin City University (Irlanda), Avignon Université (Francia) e Universidad de León (Spagna).

L’incontro del Diritto con le Ict

Il Curriculum Erasmus Mundus in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence (EMILDAI) offre un mix unico di moduli di diritto e Ict in un ambiente di apprendimento altamente internazionalizzato che crea esperti in protezione dei dati, governance, sicurezza informatica, diritto ed etica dell’AI.

Il Prof. Francesco Dal Canto, Direttore del Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza ha detto:

“EMILDAI è l’unico Erasmus Mundus vinto da un Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza in Italia in materia di Diritto e Nuove Tecnologie. Questo risultato è stato possibile anche grazie alla multidisciplinarità degli insegnamenti impartiti nel corso di laurea in Diritto dell’Innovazione, il quale ambisce ad aumentare la professionalità dei nostri studenti, consentendo loro di potersi confrontare sempre meglio con il contesto europeo.”

La prof. Michela Passalacqua, Presidente del corso di studio, ha accolto con favore il finanziamento di oltre 5 milioni di euro della Commissione europea al programma, affermando:

“Con iniziative come questa anche il Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza può dare il suo contributo alla transizione digitale, offrendo ai propri studenti un’offerta didattica più completa e all’avanguardia”.

Opportunità di borse di studio e iscrizioni

Una missione chiave di EMILDAI è quella di attrarre talenti da tutto il mondo con particolare attenzione agli aspetti di uguaglianza, diversità e inclusione.

Per l’a.a. 2023-24, le iscrizioni si sono riaperte nel novembre 2022. Per partecipare alla selezione è necessario essere in possesso di un diploma di laurea e attestare la conoscenza di almeno due lingue straniere (inglese e francese o spagnolo).

– 1 novembre 2022 – Apertura delle iscrizioni

– 20 gennaio 2023 – Scadenza per le richieste di borse di studio degli studenti

– febbraio-marzo 2023 – Valutazione accademica

– aprile 2023 – Comunicazione dei risultati agli studenti

– 31 maggio 2023 – Scadenza delle iscrizioni per studenti esonerati dalle tasse e per studenti che non richiedono contributi/borse

– 1 settembre 2023 – Inizio dei Corsi

Procedimento di iscrizione per l’a.a. 2023-24: Le iscrizioni sono aperte dall’1 novembre 2023 e chiuderanno il 19 gennaio 2024 per studenti con borsa di studio. 

Di seguito le opportunità di borse di studio per l’a.a. 2023/2024:

– 23 Borse di studio Erasmus Mundus: esonero tassa di iscrizione + €1400 al mese per 24 mesi + copertura totale costo assicurazione sanitaria;

– fino a 10 esoneri completi tasse di iscrizione: esonero contribuzione del 1° e del 2° anno + copertura totale costo assicurazione sanitaria;

– fino a 5 esoneri parziali tasse di iscrizione: esonero contribuzione del 2° anno + copertura totale costo assicurazione sanitaria.

I termini di iscrizione si riapriranno dal 22 aprile al 31 maggio 2024, per consentire iscrizioni sia senza borsa di studio, sia con borse di studio a copertura delle tasse universitarie.

Apprendimento multilingue

Oltre ai moduli fondamentali di informatica e diritto, gli studenti EMILDAI beneficeranno di un apprendimento multilingue relativo all’inglese e a un’altra lingua europea (francese o spagnolo). Questa combinazione di competenze è molto ricercata dalle organizzazioni internazionali, dalle aziende tecnologiche, dal settore legale e dalle istituzioni europee e mondiali.

Il sostegno dalla ricerca e dall’industria

Il Curriculum EMILDAI è anche supportato da tre Research Associate Partner, che rappresentano centri di ricerca leader nel campo del diritto, dei dati e dell’IA: il Centro ADAPT di Dublino, l’ISTI di Pisa e il Centre de Recherche en Droit A. Favre dell’Université Savoie Mont Blanc (Chambéry). Il programma coinvolge anche più di 70 organizzazioni pubbliche e private nella prestazione di tirocini, seminari, settimane tematiche e summer schools

A chi si rivolge il Curriculum EMILDAI?

Il candidato ideale è in possesso di un diploma di laurea triennale in informatica o materie giuridiche. È richiesto un ottimo livello di inglese e la conoscenza di una seconda lingua (francese o spagnolo). I migliori studenti saranno selezionati in base al voto di laurea, all’esperienza professionale e alla motivazione. Saranno inoltre garantiti l’equilibrio rispetto alla provenienza geografica e al genere.

The new Erasmus Mundus Curriculum in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence (EMILDAI) is an international interdisciplinary programme offered by the Department of Law of the University of Pisa, together with Dublin City University, Avignon Université and Universidad de León.

Similarly to companies and organizations in all sectors that strive to keep up with digital acceleration and data management associated with technological progress, we have activated a European study plan, funded by the EU Commission, structured to create graduates able to meet the needs of the world of work.

The Curriculum in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence (EMILDAI) is a master’s degree course designed to bridge the gap for companies and institutions that require experts to process data in security in accordance with legal and ethical rules, also with reference to the use of artificial intelligence systems.

EU-funded

The EMILDAI Curriculum is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters of the European Union, it is the most prestigious and integrated EU-funded master’s degree programme. The EMILDAI project received a grant of over €5 million from the European Commission.

The Master’s Degree curriculum for the achievement of the joint degree is offered by the University of Pisa in collaboration with three leading European institutions in the field of knowledge: Dublin City University (Ireland), Avignon Université (France) and Universidad de León (Spain).

The meeting of Law with ICT

The Erasmus Mundus Curriculum in Law, Data and Artificial Intelligence (EMILDAI) offers a unique mix of law and ICT modules in a highly internationalised learning environment that creates experts in data protection, governance, cybersecurity, AI law and ethics.

Prof. Francesco Dal Canto, Rector of the Department of Law said:

“EMILDAI is the only Erasmus Mundus gained by a Department of Law in Italy in the field of Law and New Technologies. This result was also possible thanks to the multidisciplinary nature of the courses taught in the degree course in Innovation Law, which aims to increase the professionalism of our students, allowing them to be able to better compare themselves within the European context.”

Prof. Michela Passalacqua, Chair of the programme, welcomed the European Commission’s funding of more than €5 million to the programme, stating:

“With initiatives like this, the Department of Law can also make its contribution to the digital transition, offering its students a more complete and cutting-edge educational offer”.

Scholarship and enrollment opportunities

A key mission of EMILDAI is to attract talent from all over the world with particular attention to the aspects of equality, diversity and inclusion. For the academic year 2022-23, the enrollment application submitted by 31 March allowed the selection of 21 students: 17 obtained scholarships that fully cover university fees and entitle the holder to a monthly contribution of 1,400 euros for two years, 4 were winners of four scholarships to partially cover the fees.

On 16 May 2022 enrollments were reopened until 17 June 2022, in order to allow enrollments both without a scholarship and with scholarships – in particular 4 – to partially cover university fees. Assessments for admission were held on an ongoing basis during the registration deadline until places have been available. For the academic year 2022-23 enrollments are closed.

It is always recommended to promptly submit the application from the first opening of enrollment registrations.

For the academic year 2023-24, enrollments will be reopened in November. In order to partecipate in the selection process, students are requested to possess a relevant degree and an appropriate language proficiency level in English end either French or Spanish.

– 1 November 2022 – Applications open

– 20 January 2023 – Deadline for scholarship students
– February-March 2023 – Academic review
– April 2023 – Results are communicated to the students
– 31 May 2023 – Deadline for fee waivers and self-funded students
– 1 September 2023 – Beginning of the programme

Steps for enrollments for 2023-24 academic year: Enrollments are open from 1st November 2023 untill 19th January 2024 for scholarship applications.

Below are the grant opportunities for the 2023-24 academic year:

– 23 Erasmus Mundus Scholarships: tuition fee waiver + €1400 month x 24 months + full health insurance;
– Up to 10 Full Fee Waivers: waiver of Year 1 and Year 2 fees + full health insurance;
– Up to 5 Partial Fee Waivers: waiver of Year 2 fees + full health insurance.

Next application round: Applications for self-funded students and remaining fee waivers will reopen on 22nd April and will close on 31st May 2024.

Multilingual learning

In addition to the core modules in computer science and law, EMILDAI students will benefit from multilingual learning related to English and another European language (French or Spanish). This combination of expertise is highly sought after by international organisations, technology companies, the legal sector and European and global institutions.

Support from research and industry

The EMILDAI Curriculum is also supported by three Research Associate Partners, representing leading research centres in the field of law, data and AI: the ADAPT Centre  in Dublin, the ISTI in Pisa and the Centre de Recherche en Droit A. Favre of the Université Savoie Mont Blanc (Chambéry) . The program also involves more than 70 public and private organizations in the provision of internships, seminars, thematic weeks and summer schools

Who is the EMILDAI Curriculum for?

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in computer science or legal subjects. An excellent level of English and knowledge of a second language (French or Spanish) is required. The best students will be selected based on graduation grade, professional experience and motivation. Balance with respect to geographical origin and gender will also be ensured.
